Rehab Unit

Our dedicated therapy team provides quality services and teaching for those who need intensive rehabilitation following a stroke, heart attack, fracture, joint replacement, general surgery or other disability. Specializing in short term post hospital care, our licensed Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Speech Pathologist work as a team to ensure each individual receives the maximum benefit of rehabilitative treatment from the day of admission to the day of discharge.

Our Rehabilitation program is equivalant to the surrounding Hospitals and our competitors in the area with services provided by Sage Rehabilitation. Here is an example of one of our short-term rehab. residents; he fractured his hip, lived alone, came to Ridgeview upon discharge, received rehabilitation, had a home evaluation completed and returned home alone by the end of 3 weeks. Periodic phone calls to this elder are made, he is still home alone and doing well.

Services provided include:

Physical Therapy focuses on body movement dysfunctions. Physical Therapists assist clients with walking and develop the physical ability for bed and wheel chair transfer techniques. We have a fully equipped therapy room with specialized equipment to help clients become confident in their mobility skills.

Occupational Therapy teaches client self care and promotion of activities of daily living skills such as dressing, bathing, food preparation and eating. Therapists help clients develop maximum use of arms, hands and fingers by addressing both thought (cognitive) and visual (perceptual) deficits that interfere with everyday skills.

Speech/Language Pathology focuses on the improvement of a client's communication skills. Our Speech Pathologist provides basic retraining of cognitive skills and independence through decision-making, reasoning and memory. Oral motor strengthening, swallowing retraining and written expression are also provided to maximize an individual's potential following an injury or illness. The Speech Pathologist is certified to provide Vital Stim Therapy.

Residents who are stabilized and have gone through a cardiac rehab. program prior to arriving here can be provided with further rehabilitation. Our Physical Therapist can monitor resting and exercise heart rates and blood pressures. They can set up an appropiate exercise protocol for many different cardiac cases, such as; heart attack, angina, PTCA, and CABG. For clients who no longer require skilled therapies, our Restorative Nursing Program can maintain any client's potential for both physical and mental well being. Such programs as Range of Motions, Ambulation, Restorative Dining Techniques, Preventative Splinting, Strengthening, Bathing, Dressing and Grooming provide the reassurance to each client that feeling good is not just for the physical body but the mental, emotional and social bodies as well.
